Lara Flynn Boyle Scares Me

What bothers me most about Lara Flynn Boyle is:

Not her extreme skinny frame (she needs to eat something fatty right now!)

Not the fact she’s at some sort of black tie event and forgot her shoes

Not the fact that she dressed kind of like the wait staff at this black tie event

But her extreme plastic surgery.  Her once pretty face has disappeared.  What is left in it’s place is oversized and unatural looking lips, permanently surprised eyebrows, and skin that’s tighter than Warwick Capper’s Shorts (sorry, you have to be Australian to understand that reference).

I do believe she’s completely gone off the boil.

Halle Berry’s Hair

I absolutely love Halle Berry with a really short hairdo.  She has the great cheekbones, and feminine facial features required to work with the pixie cut.

I think she looks very average, pretty but bland with long straight hair.

But with the curly do -I think it swamps her beautiful face - how about you, what do you think?

Hoisery Rules Kate Beckinsale

I know that opaque hoisery is a big fashion trend at the moment, but one rule that shouldn’t be forgotten is that you need to match the weight of your tights to the weight of your skirt.

Kate Beckinsale is wearing a light, sleeveless, floaty dress, with heavy opaque black tights, which just don’t work together.

Beware the Diverging Diagonal on Your Hips

Anne Hathaway’s dress has some diverging diagonal lines that make her hips look wide – it you want to up your curve quotient, go for this, but if you don’t as you feel your hips are wide enough already.

Katie Holmes Pants Pockets

At least Katie is not wearing an outfit she made herself, but check out her thighs – you can see the pockets of her pants through the fabric – which is never a good look.

If you have trousers that do this – just sew the pockets closed and cut them out – a smoother cleaner line.

Hayden Panettiere’s Ugly Lace Top

This white lace top that Hayden Panettiere is wearing is so ugly I’m lost for words.

It’s unflattering elasticised waist does nothing for her except make her look pregnant, and the lace just looks cheap and tacky.  Am I right or am I being too harsh?

Paris Hilton Meets Royalty

Paris Hilton was in London and hobnobbing with royalty this week, and she managed to dress in an appropriate manner – it’s nice to see she can when necessary COVER UP a bit.  I see she also got some new hair extensions for the occasion.

 

Katie Holmes Dodgy Jumpsuit

I don’t understand why Katie Holmes would choose to wear this dodgy white, ill-fitting jumpsuit (did she make it herself?) with a black lace undershirt.  It just doesn’t work.  It gives her odd looking breasts, and just looks cheap and tacky, like it was cobbled together – did she let Suri choose her clothes today?

Colour and Contrast Levels – Julia Stiles Style

This dress that Julia Stiles is wearing is cute and flattering to her figure, but she’s chosen the wrong coloured handbag, shoes and earrings.

I can see what she was trying to do – it’s called ‘visual grouping’ in technical terms, where she is playing a game of join the coloured dots – blue shoes, blue handbag detail and blue earrings, but there just isn’t enough contrast in these accessories to create the contrast she needs to look great, so she looks altogether washed out.

What you might notice, if you look closely, she has dark brown eyes, so she needs a small element of a dark colour to work with her light pink dress.  If only the shoes, handbag and earrings had been a deeper blue or brown this outfit would have looked fab.

Now if you compare this photo of our Princess Mary, who is wearing a rose beige dress, notice how the dark brown of the belt, works beautifully with her hair, and creates the contrast that she needs to shine?

Beyonce Shows How Not to Wear Horizontals

 

This is image consulting 101 – never put a horizontal line across a wide point, unless you want it to look wider.  Now if Beyonce’s booty is her widest point, why would she put a glittery, spangly, sequined wide horiztonal band across it to draw attention to it?

How can she get something so basic so wrong?
