Colour Harmony – Black

In a light flattering colour that makes her skin look creamy and gorgeous

In black, Nicole's head appears disconnected from her body and looks more tired and washed out, despite all the makeup.

 

The colours that are most flattering on our skin tone are those that harmonise with our natural hair, eyes and skin tones.

They will make us look lighter, brighter, healthier, slimmer and younger – and who doesn’t want that?

All colours reflect on our skin, and whether that is flattering or not, is based on the levels of our pigments, such as melanin and carotene.

Most people wear black, but it’s not particularly flattering for many as it’s a very harsh and cool colour.  If you’ve ever put on a high necked black top and thought you looked like your head was floating, this is because it’s not flattering for you.

Black is a COOL colour, so if you’ve got a warm complexion, it will never be your best option.

It is also a DEEP colour and looks best on those with deeper skin or hair colour.

Notice how the lighter Angelina Jolie’s hair becomes, the less flattering black is on her, and how she looks more washed out with warm coloured hair next to her cool skin.

Keith Urban’s Denim Suit

Did no one tell Keith Urban (here with wife Nicole Kidman) that the denim suit is a way out of fashion?  It’s the epitome of trailer trash.  I’m really hoping that’s not a denim shirt underneath that denim jacket – oh my giddy aunt, I’m feeling faint and will have to go and lie down.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban All Matchy Matchy

This is one of my pet hates, couples who get around in matching outfits.  Is it because they otherwise can’t remember what the other person looks like, so they know if they’re wearing the same clothes as them they’ll be able to find each other again?  It’s more commonly seen in tourists wearing either matching shell suits (which should all be burnt), or just matching jeans and jackets, which Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have taken to extremes here by also includeing matching baseball caps. 

Maybe it’s a way of telling the world that we must be ‘in lurve’ cos we’re wearing the same clothes.  Uuuggghh!

Do the Blink Test Before You Leave Home

I know this necklace is  worth a fortune, and Nicole is probably being closely followed by some big dudes with guns to make sure nobody tries to abscond with the jewels, but really it’s just too much.  Yes you can use a nice big necklace to distract from other body parts that you don’t want people to notice, but this is just overboard.  Nicole has already announced that she’s pregnant, so why would she need to distract from that almost imperceptible baby bump?

   So how do you do the blink test?  Stand in front a mirror and shut your eyes for three seconds, open them and see what you focus on first – is your outfit working or not? 

Chanel got it right – take something off before you leave the house.

Pregnancy Fashions

Here is a pregnancy fashion I thought had disappeared (and rightly so). Nicole gets pregnant and suddenly wants to wear buttoned up to the neck frilly clothes – we know how you got pregnant – no need to start dressing like a nun to try and convince us it’s an immaculate conception.
